Recycling Water for the Oil & Gas Industry

The natural gas industry has recently begun drilling deeper into the Marcellus Shale Field for their new supply of natural gas. This gas is imbedded under the Appalachian Mountain range and stretches from lower West Virginia through Pennsylvania up through New York. This newly found source however takes extraordinary measures and resources in order to recover the gas at a reasonable cost. One of these resources is an enormous amount of fresh water and the disposal of an enormous amount of contaminated "frac" water.

Allegheny Ozone has the ability to treat frac water with patented equipment. This equipment is state-of-the-art and will convert the frac water into reusable fresh water. This process will be the answer to many gas companies' problem of disposing of their contaminated water by using this water multiple times, saving hauling costs and disposal fees. This equipment is designed to satisfy all of the gas company's immediate needs concerning the frac and fresh water issues listed below.

Frac and Fresh Water Issues:

  • Reducing/eliminating disposal costs of frac water
  • Reducing/eliminating hauling costs of frac water
  • Reducing the need for finding large quantities of fresh water
  • Reducing truck traffic in the drilling area
  • Having a process that is portable to move from one drill site to the next
  • Minimizing the environmental impact of drilling for natural gas

Allegheny Ozone is able to satisfy all of these goals. Many natural gas companies plan to greatly increase the number of wells to be drilled in the Appalachian Mountain Range in the near future. With Allegheny Ozone treating their water, these companies can concentrate on recovering more gas for their customers.

The process consists of using ozone and other patented equipment to separate oil and water portions of the frac water, oxidize the remaining solution, sanitize and filter the water back to reusable condition. It will be difficult for other companies to duplicate our process because we have exclusive rights to use this patented ozone process in the natural gas industry.

Our portable units can process up to 100,000 gallons a day. Multiple portable units can be used to increase gallons treated on site. Semi-permanent sites can process up to 1,000,000 gallons a day.
